boarding begins

Hey guys! my first blog!! angela has been telling meto do this for ever, so i finally got 'er duuun! anyhoo, this weekend was such a blast! first boarding day of a very short season!! AHHH i came down to provo last thursday to go to a New Zealand meeting, and met up with angela hatch (from spring summit) and she said her roomates and her were going to colorado for the weekend to snowboard and that they were leaving THAT NIGHT. she said yah come with us! so i said (after about 4.7 seconds of thinking) SURE! thats sounds like something a school-less, jobless person like me could do this weekend. so i did. we left thursday night with megan, aubrey (sven's sister and angleas roomate) and angela and I. i borrowed beckys gear and ange's clothes, and we took off. Drove thru the rainy night and slept neat grand junction at a friends house. It was a BEAUTIFUL frive out there through the rockies on I-70 and even though the tiny car was crowded and full of stuff, and we had skis and snowboards wedged in between us, it was worht it! we stopped at these hot pools and mud baths in idaho springs, CO, and got all covered in this soft white mud. it was really fun!! we let it dry and megan wouldnt do it because she thought it was gross. her loss! we cleaned off and got in these hot hot mineral pools and then we went to Beau Jo's for their famous mountain high pizza. it was super good! they make extra thick crust and give you honey to dip it in, and the crust in whole wheat and tastes likes moms homemade bread! git 'er duuun! haha anyways then we got to denver around 8pm and went to angela'a aunt and unlces house. they were really nice and a fun family to hang out with. thye gave us food and beds and things like that. we woke up at like 6:30 am the next morning, so we could make it to the mountain by the time the lifts opened!! well there was only one lift open and a few runs, but still- not bad considering its not even halloween yet!! i was really excited we had out clothes laid out the night before even! :) so we left for the mountain, Loveland, and made it there, got our boards (me and angela had to rent cause we didnt have our boards with us) and then lift tickets and we were off!! The first run was a little shakey, the usual 'warm up' run...but we got the hang of it quickly and jsut boarded all day long! i was kind of bummed at how crowded it was and i am shocked i didnt have a collision with other riders!! but we hit some fun little jumps and i had one crazy wipeout that was pretty funny actually. angela has a huge bruise on her butt that she got from falling in line and landing on the back of her binding! it was pretty funny and the bruise is cool! aubrey got some bruises and a concussion actually from falling (jsut mild, but STILL!) and megan flirted with everyone on the mountain and showed off the whole time. but she has a right to- she was really good! (she skis- aLOT!) anyways the last run i got up and found that my binding was broken- the wratchet was busted off, so i couldnt strap in properly and had to ride ALL the way down on my heelside which sucked. then i went and took my board back and got my money back from THAT fiasco. it was pretty cool though- a free rental! but i was sort of bummer cause i missed like probably at least 3 more runs! but oh well. anyways we headed back to denver that night, had a barbeque with angela's family and just hung out, watched movies, i was pretty tired. we went to bed and then woke up early and headed home. we stopped in grand juntion again, this time for church, and then went home. megans mom made us dinner which was really nice and really good! and then home! it was a great weekend,a nd i was SO glad i got to go snowboarding!! feels good, i'm ready for THAT seaons to start already! we keep getting more and more snow in the mountains here so i am pretty excited!! anyways well i better jet! more later love mare
