WEEEELLLL today was long. I havent written in here for a while- just been doing the same old same old, working at the Juvie center, hooking people up for back treatments! Making people better, waking up for the lucky shift of 6 AM to 1 PM. sucks waking up at 5 to be there by 6, but i get the whole afternoon off to run, sleep, run errands, whatever. Anyways SO back to what I was saying- Today. Went to work, got off at 1, and picked up David form school about 1:30. My buddy Derek coaches baseball for a college team here, and david always wants to hang with teh big boys, so derek says, 'how bout you bring Dave to practive and we can hit a few balls with him." so we did that. David LOVED it, all the guys were playing catch and stuff with him showing him how to catch and throw and hit properly, it was so cute. Plus it wasnt bad hanging around the batting cages fora few hours with all those ball players...we all know how mary feels about baseball players ;) Anyways Derek was being such a nice guy, he took dave out for subway aftewards and just totally went out of his way. What a good guy. David needs taht sometimes, since he doesnt really have a dad and he's surrounded by girls all the time! Poor kid! anyways then i came home, went for a run around the lake at sunset, which was gorgeous! Pink and reflecting off the lake...you know, the good sunsets we always picture. It was great except for the fact that it got dark while I was there and it really creeps me out to run alone in the dark through the woods. Think Provo city trail...yeah. anyways, came home and my neice Emma had set up a hot chocolate stand in our driveway, complete with the sign that was misspelled and the '5' in 50 cents was backward. She sold me a cup and I headed off for team ups with the missionaries. Man i love being home with the family sometimes, its fun to play with my neice and nephew and hang out with my sister and parents. I miss out on a lot being away from home. but then again, i miss out on alot by BEING home. Guess sometimes we have to choose between two good things! Anyway, went with the missionaires, did some tracting. wow that is no fun. We talked to maybe 4 people who all said no, and half the people wouldnt even answer their doors! It was crazy. You really do feel like an idoit knocking on some random persons door and asking them if they want to talk about Jesus Christ. They look at you and make you feel dumb, and then make some excuse! But no one said missionary work is easy. and When you get someone to accept the message I bet its all worth it. I dont know if i really want to go on a mission when I am 21, but I like helping then out and gettnig experiences. Sometimes its nice to just spend time trying to help others instead of leading a selfish social life. Anyhoo well I guess thats about it for me today- my family is all going out of town this weekend but leaving the kids with me! from Thursday until sunday! good luck to me with a 5 and 8 year old! man.
