Well today was long. 6 am- at work. Got off at 2, came home, ran 15 miles. came home. ate dinner (after a shower of course!) then went to my friends house for a little while. Came home, on my way to volleyball and then to meet a friend at the airport at 12:30! yowser! i am so tired alls i wanna do is SLEEP! but it feels good to know i ran 15 miles today. and i realized that i am really out of shape! my legs are SO sore! I havent felt that in a while. but feels good! I figured out why i have this ankle pain all the time. i thought it was maybe a stress fracture, but then i had a therapist look at it and they figured out that my arches are falling, so they dont support my feel and then i get pain up my anke. SO i have them taped which helps a TON! its nice to know how to solve problems. i think my biggest fear right now is to get some stupid injury that will prevent me from running or doing anything else that i love. SO i am trying to be careful. But i love training- i've realized i need a goal to get my butt motivated and to make myself push the limits. AHHH anyhoo, well i think this will start becoming like a training journal! haha OH- and to angela and her marathon debate- i think they are awesome! as long as you train carefully and work up to the distances, they arent as bad as they seem. and you cant beat the feeling of finishing! Kinda like climbing mountains. Except without the rewarding view. Instead you get rewarding leg cramps....haha :) anyways well it looks like i am out of time, so i better jet! tomorrow is going to be BUSY! Work, swimming with my sister at 24 hour fitness (which i am excited about because i havent swam forEVER!) and then i have to shop and start setting up for my new years eve party tomorrow! it'll be fun! (if i have any energy...) anyhoo, well everyone, have a FUN NEW YEARS EVE! (and stay outta trouble!- but i know you will...) LATER!

mary-- 15 miles? And you said you were out of shape. I only ran like, 3 today. I am getting so out of shape! I think it's b/c the family is home-- but I'm hoping things will change when I'm home alone for a month. I agree with what you said about marathon training. . . but I am going to try and explain some of the concern:
--during a marathon, your internal organs are being suspended and bounced 20,000 times, this usually results in some sort of kidney damage.
--The knees get about 20,000 poundings. People suggest taking a day off for every mile or kilometer post-marathon. . . just to fix the damage done to your knees.
--the human body is not designed to run 26.2 miles non-stop. In fact, the marathon distance came about as a tribute to the runner who collapsed and died after completing that journey from Athens to Marathon, Greece.
--Also, the muscle inflamation increases blood clots.
Just some things to think about. All of this can be prevented with training and getting lots of anti-oxidants (like salmon and I think avacados). . . well, good luck training and you better write me and tell me about it while I'm gone so I can get real jealous! :)
I can't believe you ran 15 miles straight and think you're out of shape. I'm even worse than angelas 3 miles. I always congratulate myself when I run for a mile without stopping. I am a lazy bum. I decided though that I just psych myself out to fast because a few times I've managed to tell myself it's just a mind game and after a few seconds I feel strangely energised. Well, I'll be out there on the 4th too. You're flying into salt lake right? How are you getting to idaho? I need a ride...so does brian. I don't think sam will be able to visit for a little while :( hittin the slopes will still be fun though! rock on!
