invercargill here i am!!

well, here i am. in INVERCARGILL. thats where i will be living for the next 3 months. wow. i met my host family last night. they are really cool- Paula and Bonnar. THey are a couple that live a bit out of town, and its really pretty, in the woods, and its a very cute little house and i get a little walk out porch in my bedroom where i can wake up and look out my little french doors and see the green rain forest--like woods!! and its so fun!! They are really laid back and funny and excited! I think it will be a good time living with them. And they eat really healthy food, so i might learn that form them! we toured the school, that is nice. I am excited to start classes; we talked about all the trips and skills classes today- SO EXCITED! kayaking, climbing, surfing, backpacking, etc. they said we will probably see dolphions swim right up to us whiel surfing! haha that will most likely scare me and i will think its a shark, but i'll get over that i hope!! WE get our bikes today and have been getting to know the town. its small but not too small. i guess a little bigger than rexburg. or maybe Idaho falls (but a BIT smaller) and it seems nice. beach is not too far away. its sunny and warm today but i hear it stays usually in the 60s and rainy. Reminds me of those nice alaskan summers for those of you who know them! :) anyway, we will go on a nice official bike tour around the area. I am excited because i am the head of our sports committe, and so we are looking into clubs, like there is a mountain biking club, etc. and we are starting an ultimate frisbee team as well. Oh, and theres a trail running marathon here!! march 12, so i will try to do that. It will be hard, but cool i think!! OH- by the way, we traveled down the south island and it is AMAZING!! down the west coast of it has these big mountains, some snowy ones and lots of green, we went to a glacier and it was gorgeous, and the ocean is blue and i guess its hard for words to justly describe this place! I guess you'll all just have to come and visit. i love it. But anyway, i am off to explore more of the area- i live a few miles out of town so i bike to school everyday! yahoo!! i always wanted to do that!! Well, tell everyone in the US hi for me! i miss all of you!! OH and if you email me, use my hal02014@byui.edu account because i will check that more often!!! (ie i can use it ont he free school computers...) SWEET AS!! BYE!

Miss Mary-- your description of your pad (aka:house) was such-a-tite. I imagined myself in the cozy little cottage looking out of the windows into the lush forest with you (in a non-creepy sort of way). You guys' trip sounds amazing! That's awesome about the people in the group. Who's your roommate? Do you like them? What are the cultural differences? What do they think of Americans? Keep the posts coming as you explore every cranny of Invercargill and beyond.
