There's a race of men that don't fit in,
A race that can't stay still;
So they break the hearts of kith and kin,
And they roam the world at will.
They range the field and they rove the flood,
And they climb the mountain's crest;
Theirs is the curse of the gypsy blood,
And they don't know how to rest.If they just went straight they might go far;
They are strong and brave and true;
But they're always tired of the things that are,
And they want the strange and new.
They say: "Could I find my proper groove,
What a deep mark I would make!"
So they chop and change, and each fresh move
Is only a fresh mistake.And each forgets, as he strips and runs
With a brilliant, fitful pace,
It's the steady, quiet, plodding ones
Who win in the lifelong race.
And each forgets that his youth has fled,
Forgets that his prime is past,
Till he stands one day, with a hope that's dead,
In the glare of the truth at last.He has failed, he has failed; he has missed his chance;
He has just done things by half.
Life's been a jolly good joke on him,
And now is the time to laugh.
Ha, ha! He is one of the Legion Lost;
He was never meant to win;
He's a rolling stone, and it's bred in the bone;
He's a man who won't fit in.
Today was superb! Yesterday i hooked up with a womens mountain biking group and went biking last night on the Poppy trail out here. It was so good to get off the pavement and onto the trails finally! Then today for work we spent the day at SUU with the students that are working on out Teens Outside program. It was way better than being in the office. But the best part of the day was when this guy called me about a job for the winter. It is leading trips for at risk youth in a program called Aspiro. I know, i know, same old wilderness therapy program...but this one is cooler. They take them on mountain biking trips, climbing trips, rafting, etc. We do FUN stuff instead of that crazy old suvival skills and walking around in the desert detoxing kids. I am pretty excited to check this opportunity out. Part of my intensity may be due to the fact that I have an indoorsy, desk job and will do anything to get out, but I am stoked none the less. and lets not forget about THE PUMP THIS WEEKEND!!! AHHHHHHHHHHH
I feel that when i get excited about life, this is where i express it. HOOT YEAH!

your not one of those men who dont fit in, you just need to find your happy place. maybe not in an office. but i think theres something to wonder about people happy about working in an office all day. congrats mare, that job sounds pretty interesting. where is it? let us know what happens there..
i like the poem though. where did you find it? i like poems when they are good.
This poem was written by RObert Service! B and I read this like every day in ALaska. . .it was part of his evening program on the trail and was written about the men who hiked the Chilkoot Trail during the Klondike Gold Rush. I love this poem
I'm offended by your negative view of primitive living... "detoxing kids" pischawww! I went to Rabbitstick last night and danced around the fire with all the other crazy wilderness people. I hope we can get over our differences and still be friends. I heard about Aspiro. It sounds like a good program as long as it isn't behavior mod.
