-I got a letter from a friend in new zealand. This makes me feel so happy and sentimental at the same time. I appreciate people like that in the little corners of the earth. It makes me want to travel and meet them all.
-I am learning how to play the guitar, and its really addicting! i like it a lot, so thanks Jo.
-It is really cold outside today, overcast and rainy. So this morning i put on my carhartt overalls that are faded and covered in paint. The ones i used to wear to the canoe shop up in alaska on days like this. i suddenly have the urge to patch canoes and talk about books with my boss, Annette.
-i spent the morning babysitting Indiana and reading short stories. it makes me want to write again.
Happy rainy day- M

Mare,
You are getting philosophical again, but that's okay. Sometimes it is very helpful and comforting to the soul to just stop and smell roses, take stock of where one is, look at the landmarks once more to be sure of the goal, eternal or otherwise. Your Father is proud of you and loves you more than you'll ever know.

Mare-- I feel more at home in my carhart overalls here in AK than I do anything else! I love it! I want to know what good books you're reading (or have read). I need something new. I was thinking we should start a bookclub blog and we could all post on it. . . or something. Today I got to go hiking and I saw a huge black bear eating dandilions. There is something about this place that feels so disconnected. Which I think is why I come to the library everyday to reconnect with the world through blogs. love you!
you know the day you posted this was little andys 2nd month birthday! rainy days are the best! we dont get many down here. i dont remember when the last rainy day was... long time gone! who's Indiana? sounds like you had a nice day. its like going thru old pictures makes me want to go see places we lived sometimes, and i wonder if those people still remember me. -cassie
I'm glad we saw Pirates 3 while it was cold and rainy outside! What a perfect movie day!
Good luck in the Dam Marathon this weekend! I'll be floating the Snake river, then headin to Pok-tella fer sum clim'ing fun!!!
Mary,
Those carharts were given to you with a lot of history in them. I'm glad to see that you are still honoring them and wearing them. I too have mine on on this very cold and windy Alaska summer day. I think we shall never see the syn again...
As for books...do you know that the guy who wrote "Kite Runner" has a new one out? I was reading it just as your mother called to tell me that you had written about me on your blog.
I hope you are well and happy. Know that we will always have a canoe for you to fix...
Love
Annette
