Chaabil

Hey online community- i am still alive in guatemala!!!still in the capital, still straggling along trying to learn spanish. i dont know really whats quite wrong with me but i am not really getting it very well. i pretty much suck at spanish. but thats okay, because i just found out that next change (right before thanksgiving) i am getting sent to the jungle, out in the wilderness, and i have to learn an ancient mayan language called K´ekchi. you should look up on the church website conference talks in that language, because it sounds rediculous. but i hear its easier to learn pronunciation wise than spanish because of all the glottals. whatever those are...hehe.

But here are a few samples of what you could say to get a conversation started:

Lain Lix Mary! (i am mary!)
Cha Cui la Cuit! (watch your butt)
Cuink Laat. (youre a man)
Chaabil! (good, bueno,)

now, those are just for starters. And i am not sure of the spelling. But i do know that the x sounds like an SH. anyhoo, yeah its pretty legit. I mean, yeah it will be a challenge. i cant even learn spanish. but, i am excited to get out of the city and into the wild again. Jungles here i come. i dont mind walking through the mud for miles to get to appointments. its better than breathing smoke from the nacho libre busses and trying to avoid trash and urine in the streets. okay thats harsh. i love my concrete jungle of an area, and my market and my nice amenities in the city, like hot showers and stores if i really need something. There is internet, though, just have to travel to town on mondays for it. But, it will be adventure. and i really feel like its right. So, wish me luck! here are a few pictures as well.

PS i dont blog, i send posts to my sister and she posts them!! just so you know, i am not that girl...

cuan chic!

Don't worry learning Spanish has become easy through online by live Spanish tutor and also by conversational Spanish program. . The key is to find one that is based on sound principles of learning languages. Make sure they take into account all four of the language skills (reading, writing, speaking, and listening). There is no shortage of online Spanish courses. Make sure you ask the write questions. There are programs suited to a beginner learning Spanish online.

i realize that this is mary's sis posting, and we are all very grateful for that. But someday she will return home and hopefully read all of our comments. Congrats on the call out to the jungle Mary. It will be an amazing experience for you!

Hey everyone, mary Grace may not have posted the blog entries, but she has approved the content, I'm not sure if she has a politcal action commitee that pays for them however. Yes she will read them all and maybe even answer or respond someday. Thanks for keeping her in your hearts and I hope in your prayers, she would do that for you.
